ah, the quarter-life crisis. how delicate the kicking and screaming into adulthood becomes. some highlights from the q-life:
rogue literary agents and red lipstick, music, luminaries, juevenille impulses, royals and royal bloodlines, found things, farmers markets, animals, trees, vegan treats, riverside drive, baseball games, the national chinese gymnastics team, narwhals, vermont, road trips on the eastern seaboard, modernist prefab, tokyo street fashion, farms and farming, brownstones, making collages, antiques and varnish, herbal teas, men with beards, fairies and evil fireflies, my favorite bear, scandinavian art rock and dutch pop, evil b-side sisters, miranda july, this hole in my delicate head....

bjork @ united palace theater

ok, so we went to this back in may, but really, bjork deserves her own post. the show was, well, it was as magical as the little elf-princess hersef. i swear when i heard her voice come over the speakers i nearly fainted...and we had incredible seats at the united palace theater. the UPT is a little gem of a place way up in harlem that's a church that moonlights as a venue (sweet). lets see, the show.... take one part b-movie sci-fi, three parts rainbow bright, and 2.5 parts gnomes-hunting-unicorns, add a bit of craggy viking terrain, ecstasy-laiden wonderland, and the voice of a greek siren...and you get the idea...her single title? "we are the earth intruders"

design life nothin

so scott and i trudged all the way over to 91st & 5th (thats across the park for you non city folk) in 90 degree heat and 80% humidity to the cooper hewitt to see the design life now exhibit that's showcasing, among others, charlie lazor's flatpak house (i want one of course), ReadyMade design, and lifesize KidRobot(i want one too)...
and alas, the bloody thing was closed! so we settled for a picnic & a nap in the park. but walking home we passed by design within reach and they had an Eames Lounge in the window. seriously, most girls want diamonds-- I want an original edition 1956 Eames Lounge.

the hoodrats on the lower east side
so thursdays are teany days. teany days? yes well you may be familiar with the cartoonish brand of anti-oxidant rich teas made by Moby. yes, Moby. and well moby also has a cafe on the lower east side pushing sweet & savory veg cuisine along with, obviously, the namesake's tea. anyway, so pretty much every thursday you can find myself, nikole, and the ocassional kent or scott down on rivington noshing on vegan cake and lavender lemonade. oh, and two weeks ago we got nailed with water balloons by some punks on the roof of the building across the street-- bloody hooligans.

the evidence
in honor of sarah, i have started a personal blog. hello world and welcome to the nether regions of a one miss spiritual tramp of 1948's frontal lobe. take care and mind the gap. its only fitting that the first begins with the last: sarah's last night in the nyc.
