rocket science

2007's little fim that could. caught it last night down at the sunshine theater on houston with ali and her friend here that's visiting. the director was in the audience which was cool except i kept wondering if he could overhear the scott's comparison's to 2005's darling movie that could, thumbsucker-- no mind though we laughed all the way through.

one of the best shows we've been to, and this song reminds me of scott

so, we all know i've never been one for purses, so i now use a cloth bag that doubles as my purse and shopping bag. its nice. its big. its handy. i can carry my purchases, wallet, and purse crap all in one bag. hooray! and does anyone remember how in fourth grade Brett Jacobs and i hosted a "Use Cloth Bags" booth at merced's earth day fair?? my quote in the paper was "using cloth bags helps save the environment and makes carrying things easier." ah, yes.

chesapeake bay, maryland & virginia are fading away...

power animals in a flower world

what's your power animal? for now, mine is the arctic fox.

he looks suspiciously like a boy named knox...

(knox is my dog that my parents have since adopted with me living in new york)

oh really?

all the subways mysteriously shut down this morning-- and have remained down all day. the shut down was allegedly due to rain early this morning....but please, it was hardly a deluge and never has rain flooded every subway causing all subways to cease. i ended up driving scott's roommates (and mine) to work today...drive! to work! in manhattan! we even gave a 65-year-old men's suit manufacturer from long island a ride. geting a taxi was out of the question and car services were back up as well due to 3 million new yorkers needing to get to work and no subway service available. nightmare. but here's the thing, obviously, it is insulting to our intelligences to blame the standstill on a little drizzle. my guess? some security precaution handed down my the DHS....ah, and if i may tangent into the semi-paranoid, thanks to the patriot act the bros down at homeland security are probably scanning this post right now thanks to their surveillance and google's ridiculous algorithms that track, well, everything in the world. blink and google knows it probably before the dhs does. anyway, enough of my rant. really, it was probably just the rain.

756

so we almost missed bonds hit his record-breaking 756th home run tonight because of an OCD gay man. well, we had been flipping between the game and bravo's latest gem of mindless, indulgent entertainment for the "urban & educated"--the show flipping out, which stars a neurotic, OCD, homosexual egomaniac "real estate investor" (read: house flipper in the west LA residential market). and anyway, we had just watched as jeff (egomanic) freaked out over his cat being late for its accupuncture appointment--when suddenly scott flipped back to espn out of some involuntary movement which apparently originated by an instinctual reflex in the nether regions of his heterosexual brain--and bam, barry was up. one pitch. and its solid gold, baby. my roomie ali was already asleep in the next room--but there was jumping and yelling and hugging. yeah, its good to be a giants fan.

yes...i was taking pictures of the tv screen...

freehugger

(ok, so this is acutally an old post i had from a different, long dead blog...but semi-note-worthy all the same)

yesterday i decided to walk home through the park for some hearty introspection and and observance of the lovely fall leaves instead of taking the subway--and good thing too! i would have missed my chance at a free hug. on the corner of 72nd and Amsterdam was a girl giving out free hugs. i mean real-live hugs--for FREE! my "WTF?" moment quickly became an anxiety-ridden self-assesment: maybe i was the EXACT kind of disconnected humanoid robot addicted to her twitter and myspace that this girl was trying to save. but then maybe not and this fruit just needed to get off the damn street. side note: i investigated further...and guess what? not one but two (at least) "free hug" hugger groups out there....saving the world one hug at a time: www.freehugcampaign.org and www.free-hugs.com.
put down the Crackberry and hug someone.

a dialogue

"i love it when it rains here...Riverside Park looks like England"

"of course it does..isn't everything England to you? you Union Jack Whore"

"anyway, its poetic, right? i mean look...one could write 'the rain. the trees. green. children laugh, the women watch, the earth is. still.' or you know, some bs like that and then if some one like Oprah reads it and recommends it because its simple and poignant and 'genius' in its sparse prose or some crap like that..."

"well why don't you do that then? i mean, you have stacks of the crap right?"

"yeah, man...remember when i had black hair and cried all the time? that was beyond....but anyway, nobody publishes poetry anymore. unless you're sick or dying or had a near death experience or you're a kid whose sick and dying or handicapped and then somehow 'poetry' is acceptable and 'inspirational' and a 'testament to the human spirit'"

"ah, the human spirit, its a tricky little devil now isn't it...it gets to be really popular around christmas and the super bowl..."

sooooo '90's

thursday night on the lower east side and we jumped aboard the 1990's hype train down at annex (but not before hitting teany for some vegan cake action first). the 1990's are a little known band causing a mild ruckus in the cloistered new york/brooklyn music scene. talented chaps with bad oral hygiene, just what i expect from my british rock imports. the show was awesome, and dudes from other indie darling (hype=circa 2005) we are scientists dj'd a few rounds post show. scott + teany + lower east side + show = good times as usual.
